Catastrophic injuries require specialized care from experts
PMSI’s Catastrophic Care Support program is the nation’s first of its kind totally dedicated to supporting clients in coordinating the needs and unique discharge requirements of catastrophically injured individuals—setting us apart from our competitors in the industry. Catastrophic Care Support is a unique, total-service program staffed by credentialed clinical specialists with the knowledge and experience to care for the well-being of catastrophically injured and chronically ill individuals.
Each Catastrophic Care Support team consists of a Nurse Case Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultants (RNs, BSNs and MSNs) and a dedicated Catastrophic Care Specialist—providing consultative advice and direction regarding the medical equipment and ancillary services needed for catastrophic cases such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, severe burns, limb amputations, multiple traumatic injuries and complex diagnoses. These nurses, along with our deeply experienced specialists, work with claims professionals and case managers to develop a plan to provide the necessary products and services. Once agreed upon, PMSI coordinates the evaluation, selection, authorization, purchase/rental, delivery and training necessary to maximize functionality and promote independence for the injured individual.
Drawing from the most extensive medical services and equipment portfolio in the workers’ compensation industry, the number of services our clinical specialists can coordinate with a single call is unparalleled. Working with claims professionals and case managers to evaluate each injured worker on a case-by-case basis, our specialists develop care plans and coordinate delivery of essential pharmacy, medical services, equipment and supplies for complex injuries.
